Businessweek Team Case Competition

Texas State University, McCoy College: Businessweek Team Case Competition

McCoy College at Texas State University held a team case competition on February 4th, 2013. Bloomberg Businessweek article "Boeing 787 Dreamliner Is Grounded Worldwide by Regulators" was used to create this case.

The prompt question given to each team was "Is the Boeing 787 Dreamliner the modern day Concorde? Put yourself in the position of Boeing Co. Research the global supply chain that took place during the design, manufacturing, and assembly stages of the 787 Dreamliner. Given the current setbacks, what should Boeing Co. do to ensure the 787's long-term survival? Should they stick with the multinational collaborative business model for the 787 Dreamliner, or should it be scrapped in favor of a more traditional business model with Boeing directly responsible for most aspects of production of the 787 Dreamliner? Will the 787 Dreamliner and its current business model fly ensuring the long-term profitability of Boeing Co., or will it crash and burn, potentially taking down Boeing Co. with it?"
