Abstract

The hackathon circuit consists of hackers who build apps, connected devices, and other products during all-night competitive programming contests. Each hacker is working on a startup idea. Both Peter Ma and Brian Clark compete in the hackathon circuit and have won money for their ideas.

Although hackathons can vary in length, focus, judging criteria, and other factors, they follow a similar pattern, with each event following its own theme. Corporations seem to be onboard with the hackathons, as there were more than 1,000 in 2016.
