Roundup: The Usual Suspect

Abstract

Mosanto is facing class action litigation over glyphosate, a major ingredient in Roundup. While the EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs has approved of glyphosate, an outside scientific review panel raised major questions about the EPA’s benign view of glyphosate. There is also a class-action lawsuit claiming Roundup causes cancer.

The stakes are high because Roundup has been a major boon to agricultural productivity. Questions about glyphosate could also impede the acquisition of Monsanto by German company, Bayer AG.
