Abstract

Top poker players competed against Libratus, computer software located at Carnegie Mellon University, and lost. The Texas hold'em win for Libratus and DeepStack, another poker playing computer, are seen as steps towards other applications like cybersecurity.

Artificial intelligence is not a threat to online poker platforms though. Poker bots have been playing online cash games for years, and there are online forums where players swap notes about when they believe there is anything suspicious. In addition, there are companies such as PokerStars that work to combat this type of fraud.
